This quite outstanding wine is a blend of at least four red varietals that vary each year as the winemaker will choose only the very best wines from each vintage to make up this iconic blend. The parcels from which they come are specially selected and carefully farmed during the year to obtain a yield of less than 4 tons per hectare. The wine spends a minimum of 18 months in new French and American oak barrels and almost 2 years in bottle before being released.
El Porvenir ICONO Blend
Type: Red
Grape: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat
Year: 2019
ABV: 14.5%
Region: Cafayate Valley, Salta, Argentina
Food: To do this wine justice open it up and decant an hour before serving to give it plenty of time to breathe. Ideal for serving with Sunday lunch, roast meats and vegetables, big mushroom dishes, rich pasta sauces, and casseroles & stews. Anything big basically!
Tasting Notes: Ruby red in colour with aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as plums and blackberries. Smooth is the first thought that comes to mind when you taste it, lots of complexity with smokey and vanilla notes, and a lovely long finish. Perfect to drink now and will age very nicely over the next 15 years.
